This shop is legendary among Ghibli fans!
After visiting the exhibition at the Saida Memorial Museum in Daita, Setagaya Ward, I stopped by “Shirahige’s Cream Puff Workshop”—the only Western-style confectionery shop officially recognized by Studio Ghibli worldwide.
I visited just after 5 PM on a weekday, so I was worried if any would be left, but they still had five. I bought two to take home.
I purchased the custard cream and chestnut cream.
You can tell the products apart by the leaves on top (the green leaf is for custard cream, and the brown leaf is for chestnut cream).
The store brochure included descriptions of each product, so I’ll share them here.
● Custard Cream: A perfect blend of vanilla bean custard cream and fresh whipped cream. The aromatic choux pastry made with domestic wheat enhances the flavor.
●Chestnut Cream: A rich chestnut cream made with generous amounts of Japanese chestnuts from Kumamoto Prefecture, further enhanced with chopped chestnuts simmered in their skins. Uncompromising, authentic deliciousness.
This shop operates under the philosophy of “not just making cute sweets, but striving to create confections that the makers themselves genuinely find delicious,” and the taste is truly authentic.
I felt that filling the cream only after receiving an order is a reflection of that commitment.
The light cream paired perfectly with the crispy choux pastry, and it was absolutely delicious.
The store is filled with Totoros!
Looking around the store, Totoros were everywhere.
I think it’s a store that Totoro fans will absolutely love.
For those who live far away and can’t visit in person, you can purchase via mail order.
We know Totoro fans are all over the country, but we have good news for those who live too far to visit our shop.
“Shirokabe’s Cream Puff Workshop” sells “Totoro Delivery,” a frozen cream puff that retains its deliciousness even after thawing.
Orders for the following month’s shipment open on the 10th of each month at 10:00 AM.
