I found this shop while looking for a gift to take to a business partner.
I found this shop while looking for a gift to take to a business partner.
It’s a cake shop about a 3-minute walk from Ebisu Station, and as you’d expect from a popular shop in Ebisu, it has a very stylish feel.
I chose a cake for home use, ignoring the gift for my guests
I went there to find a gift for my guests, but when I saw the delicious-looking cakes on display, I ended up focusing on them instead.
I quickly decided on a gift for my guests and chose a cake for home use.
The most popular item is Mont Blanc, so I bought a Mont Blanc (698 yen) and a green tea “Tevere” (620 yen) cake (prices as of April 2024).
I was surprised by the appearance and taste of the Mont Blanc!
I took it home and my wife and I enjoyed it straight away.
By the way, this Mont Blanc is very unique.
Normally, the height of a Mont Blanc is created by squeezing out chestnut cream, but this Mont Blanc has a surface that feels like it has been hardened with cream.
Owner chef Kenichi Kikuchi says, “Originally, Mont Blanc is a white mountain. I was inspired by the vast Mont Blanc mountain, which is located on the border between France and Italy.”
When I actually tried it, I could taste the alcohol and cinnamon (I think), and it had a rich flavor.
Also, the matcha had a unique texture that I can’t really describe, but it was a sensation that you can’t really get at other shops.
About “Les Annees Folles”
Les Années Folles is a shop that Kenichi Kikuchi opened in Ebisu in 2012.
The name “Les Années Folles” refers to the 1920s in France, a time of freedom and prosperity that saw a transition from classical to modern styles.
Les Années Folles is a patisserie where Kenichi Kikuchi expresses the tradition and innovation of various French confectioneries based on the themes of “tradition and innovation” and “retro-modern”.
This was my first visit, but I became a fan of the shop after just one visit.
I have the opportunity to go to Ebisu for work, so I would like to continue to visit in the future.
