Omotesando is one of Tokyo’s trendiest areas, with its many stylish boutiques and cafes.
However, if you walk a little further, you’ll find a quiet residential area, dotted with high-class sweets shops that attract people with a good eye for fashion.
UN GRAIN, which we will introduce here, is one of the delicious cake shops in this corner of Omotesando.
The reason for my visit was my daughter’s birthday
I was planning to go to the Omotesando area for work on that day.
It just so happened that it was my daughter’s birthday, who had already married and left home.
When I heard that she was coming home to her parents’ house for the first time in a while, I thought, “Since I’m here, I’d like to do something to make her happy,” and decided to buy a cake to take home.
When I was looking for a good shop in the Omotesando area, I came across “UN GRAIN”.
I was a little confused by the unfamiliar word “mignardises”, but I fell in love at first sight with the beautiful photos.
I had a hunch that my daughter would love them, so I decided to visit.

Cakes that look like little works of art
UN GRAIN is a shop that specializes in “mignardises”, bite-sized Western confectioneries.
When you enter the store, you are first overwhelmed by the visual display of the small cakes, which are arranged like jewels in a glass case.

The chef’s skill shines through in the delicate mignardises, which are like “works of art in a bite” that have been carefully calculated in terms of taste, appearance and size.
As it was for three people in my family, I would usually buy three, but as they are bite-sized, I chose to buy six, which is double the amount.
You can enjoy the pleasure of choosing lots of your favorite cakes, and the assortment box that contains the cakes is like a little showcase, and it looks great too.

When I took it home, my family cheered.
The cake was as delicious as it looked, and I got the impression that it was like the cake that comes at the end of a course meal at a high-class restaurant, and even better than that.
Thanks to the cake from UN GRAIN, it was a very wonderful birthday party.

The stage for high-quality sweets run by YOKUMOKU
UN GRAIN is actually a shop produced by YOKUMOKU, a long-established confectionery brand that everyone knows.
The interior is a simple yet sophisticated space, and the staff provide attentive service.
The assortment boxes are also stylish, and they are perfect as gifts.
On April 1st 2025, Takashi Okazawa was appointed as the third generation chef patissier, and he has been working on new standard products for the miniatures.
This will definitely make the cakes at UN GRAIN even better.
