Compared to its neighbors Soshigaya-Ozura and Kyodo, Chitose Funabashi has fewer gourmet restaurants, but among them, “Ramen MAIKAGURA” is one of the few where you can wait in line.
This time, we would like to introduce “Ramen MAIKAGURA”, which is a descendant of “Nakamuraya”, a famous light ramen restaurant in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Please check the official website and the Google map at the bottom of this page for business hours, holidays, reviews, etc.

Upon opening, the restaurant quickly became popular!

Ramen MAIKAGURA opened in February 2018, and its flavor quickly became well known and soon became a popular restaurant with lines out the door.
I often visit the restaurant because it is relatively close to my house, and it is always crowded with customers.

Dare to visit on a bad weather day

I first visited Ramen MAIKAGURA in May 2022.
I returned to Tokyo in April 2022 from a long stay alone and learned of the existence of this restaurant, but was unable to visit immediately because there was always a long line of customers.
I was working from home that day and it was raining, but I thought, “This might be a good chance in a way!
I decided to stretch my legs and visit.

Still, as one would expect from a popular restaurant, we arrived at the restaurant five minutes before it opened, but there was already a line and we could not get in the first rotation.

The ramen at this restaurant should be enjoyed for its aroma

Looking at the menu at the ticket machine, I saw that Shoyu Ramen was priced at 850 yen.
Since it was my first time and I did not know what to recommend, I ordered the orthodox Special Shoyu Ramen (1,150 yen) (prices as of May 2022).

The ramen arrived shortly after we were seated, and the appearance of the ramen and the wooden table reminded me a little of Iida Shoten in Yugawara (Kanagawa Prefecture), a place I love.
The soup was also in the style of Iida Shoten’s, which I call “wonton soup type,” and was overall a delicious ramen that was well put together.

In writing this article, I researched the owner of Nakamuraya, a famous restaurant in Kanagawa Prefecture, where he was also the manager and worked at the New York branch.
Perhaps because of his overseas experience, I read an article in an interview in which he commented, “I value the original aroma and texture of ingredients, and aim to create ramen that can only be made in Japan.
When I actually tried the ramen, I did indeed feel an indescribable aroma in this ramen.
When you visit “Ramen MAIKAGURA,” I hope you will pay attention to the aroma.
