Harajuku, a town for young people. In Harajuku, a popular fashion spot for young people, there is a restaurant that serves delicious soba noodles.
This time, we would like to introduce “Teuchi-Soba Matsunaga,” which is highly recommended by Hiroko Koshino, a world-famous fashion designer, and other people in the apparel industry.

Hideaway soba noodle shop in Okuhara-juku
I went to Jingumae 2-chome area, commonly called “Okuharajuku,” because I heard there was a good soba restaurant there.
Okuharajuku is located about a 10-minute walk from Harajuku, Gaienmae, Sendagaya, and other stations, but it is a calm town with a rich international flavor, dotted with apparel stores, offices, quiet residential areas, museums, and embassies.
Teuchi-Soba Matsunaga opened in 2012 in Okuharajuku and has become a popular restaurant.
There is always a line, but the turnover is relatively fast.
My first visit to “Teuchi-Soba Matsunaga” was in April 2023.
I arrived at the restaurant around 11:50 a.m. It seemed to be the busiest time of the day, and I waited for about 30 minutes.
Although the restaurant is quite popular, the turnover is usually relatively fast even if there are people in line, so you can get in without waiting that long.
Looking at the menu, there were about 7 different kinds of cold soba noodles for lunch (menu as of April 2023).
I ordered the “oroshi soba” (1,000 yen), and the soba was firm but retained a good soft texture.
Also, the soba sauce had a slight sweetness to it, and everything was delicious and to my liking.
Designer Hiroko Koshino’s favorite restaurant
Due to its location, this restaurant is visited by many people in the apparel industry, and Hiroko Koshino, a world-renowned fashion designer, seems to patronize this restaurant and introduced Matsunaga on her website.
Matsunaga is an elegant restaurant with a simple and comfortable interior.
I visited the restaurant in April, but during the winter season (December through February), they serve “Oyster Tempura,” which looks nothing but delicious when I see the picture.
Next time I would like to visit in winter and have the limited-time-only “Oyster Tempura Soba”.
