According to one theory, there are about 4,000 soba restaurants in Tokyo, some of which are not easily accessible by public transportation.
This time, we will introduce “Unane Yamanaka” in Setagaya Ward, which can be said to be a representative example of such a restaurant.
Please check the official website and the Google map at the bottom of this page for business hours, holidays, reviews, etc.
2,546 meters from the nearest station, Futakotamagawa
Mr. Y, a friend from my college days and a gourmet food connoisseur, told me that there was a restaurant in Setagaya Ward that served delicious soba noodles, so I decided to go there immediately.
I checked the location and found that it was 2,546 meters from Futakotamagawa Station, the nearest station, and about a 25-minute walk from Seijogakuenmae.
A bus route was also shown, but buses in this area are inconvenient, so naturally we decided to drive there from our house.
Both soba and tempura are excellent!
We called the restaurant in advance to make a reservation and arrived at the restaurant in about 30 minutes.
We decided to have soba (nihachi soba) and tempura.
The soba was firm but mild in texture, and the soba sauce was also very gentle.
Not only was the soba delicious, but the tempura was also very good.
The tempura was not skinny but crispy and fried with a thin batter, and the conger eel even had the atmosphere of grilled eel.
Offering high-level cuisine in the vein of famous restaurants
We became interested in the restaurant and found out that the owner of this restaurant trained for 9 years at “Tenichi” in Ginza and 4 years at “Honjinbo” (a famous soba restaurant in Shinbashi).
Unane Yamanaka is an ideal restaurant for soba lovers, where you can enjoy both soba and tempura at the same time.
In addition, it is extremely reasonably priced, and it is a wonder that you can eat at such a reasonable price.
The only drawback is transportation access.
As mentioned at the beginning of this article, it is difficult to get to the restaurant by public transportation, so most people go to the restaurant by private car or cab.
Incidentally, “Unane Yamanaka” allows reservations for seats, but not for parking.
There are only about three parking spaces available, and the number of coin-operated parking spaces in the neighborhood is also limited, so there is a possibility that you may become a parking refugee, especially on weekends.
Still, the restaurant is more than worth the trip.
