In Tokyo, there are quite a few famous soba restaurants that are not widely known, even though they are quite famous locally.
This time, we would like to introduce one such restaurant, “Soba Tei Senmido” in Chitose Funabashi (Odakyu Line).
For business hours, holidays, reviews, etc., please check the official website and the Google map at the bottom of this page.
Famous celebrities frequent this restaurant
Soba Tei Senmido is a famous restaurant in Chitose Funabashi, and is frequented by many celebrities, including the late Ken Utsui and his family’s neighbor, Noritake Kinashi.
Recently, Ikue Sakakibara said on TV that it is her favorite restaurant.
A soba restaurant affiliated with the famous soba restaurant “Issa-an
Soba Tei Senmido was opened in 1980 by a direct apprentice of Yasuo Katakura, the founder of Issa-an and a master of buckwheat noodle making.
It is a famous restaurant, but with a homey atmosphere, it is the most relaxing restaurant among the soba restaurants I have introduced on this site.
Of course, the soba is very delicious!
Soba Tei Senmido is located about a 15-minute walk from the nearest station, Chitose Funabashi, just beyond Kanpachi (Loop Route 8).
Although the traffic is not very convenient, I visit the restaurant every few months because of the convenient parking lot with 8 spaces available (the menu below is current as of June 2023).
The soba noodles are moderately firm, and the soba sauce is neither too sweet nor too spicy, making for a pleasant taste that is hard to describe.
Usually, I have “Seiro” or “Nameko Oroshi Soba”, but there is also “Tomato Soba”, which is available only in July and August.
I sometimes get Tomato Soba, which is a very healthy menu and sometimes perfect for me right now.
Kamonan-soba is popular, but unfortunately I have never had it.
Payment is cash only!
At lunch time, there is often a long line even on weekdays, but it is natural for the restaurant to be popular because the staff is very nice and the soba noodles are delicious.
It is a bit of a walk from the station, but we hope you will enjoy the delicious soba noodles at Soba Tei Senmido.
Please note that cash only (no credit cards) is accepted.
