The Harajuku area, which is packed with curry restaurants, is a “holy land of curry” known to those in the know, and is home to many unique shops.
In this article, we will introduce the popular restaurant “Yogorou”, which stands out even in the Harajuku area.
Please check the official website and Google Map below for opening hours, days off, reviews, etc.

The Harajuku area is a curry battleground!

It was lunchtime in Gaienmae on this day.
When I was looking for a place to eat lunch, I noticed that there were a lot of curry restaurants in this area.
So I decided to go to a curry restaurant, and I chose a curry restaurant called “Yogorou” in Jingumae.
I followed Google Maps to the area near the restaurant, but I couldn’t find it.
The restaurant was in a semi-basement, and there was no sign, so it was very hard to find.

I arrived at the shop just after 12:30, and after waiting in line for about 15 minutes, I was finally able to go inside.

It’s a super unique curry!

I ordered the Chicken Spinach Curry (1,100 yen) with a soft-boiled egg (100 yen) as a topping, and the curry that came out was absolutely amazing (as of August 2022).

The large chicken pieces are mixed in with a generous amount of spinach paste, and the chicken is so tender that it falls apart easily.

It’s a unique curry that’s completely different from ordinary curry, and I’ve never eaten curry that tasted the same before💦 (it seems to fall into the category of Indian curry).
I can’t really describe what it tastes like, but I thought this curry was delicious as food.

About “Yogorou

Yogorou is a popular restaurant that is said to be one of the best in the Harajuku area, which is known for its fierce curry competition.
There are always queues outside the restaurant, both day and night, and the queues get even longer at weekends.
The owner of the restaurant used to work as a fashion magazine writer for 12 years, so he has a rather unusual career for a chef.
He thought that Japanese food, which requires training to master the basics, would be difficult, and that he could compete with his highly flexible curry, so he bought about four books and created the current menu.
It really seems like he is a genius, but the exquisite curry made by this genius chef is a masterpiece that you will want to eat even if you have to wait in line for a long time.
