When you think of Akasaka, many people probably have an image of it as an office district or a town for adults.

With that in mind, we would like to introduce you to the famous restaurant “Kappou Wachi”, where you can enjoy high-quality tekka-don.

I was attracted by the image of the delicious-looking tuna, so I went there
Akasaka was an area I rarely visited when I was a student, but recently I have started to visit it occasionally for work.
On this particular day, I was in Akasaka at lunchtime, so I searched for a restaurant on my mobile phone and found a good-looking one.
I visited a restaurant called “Kappou Wachi” near Akasaka Station, and there were lots of images of delicious-looking tuna on the internet.
When I arrived at the restaurant, there was a queue, and I had to wait for about 15 minutes before I could get in.
Apparently, this restaurant only serves tekka-don for lunch, and you can only choose the size of the rice.
It was a surprisingly delicious tekka-don!
The tekka-don was brought out shortly after, and the rice was vinegared rice, and it was quite filling (I think it’s fine for normal people other than those who eat a lot).
What I found most amazing was the quality of the tuna.
There was a lot of tuna on the plate, with a taste and texture like the ingredients in sushi at a high-class sushi restaurant.
What’s more, despite being nicely fatty, it’s not at all greasy.
I think it’s really wonderful that this is available for 1300 yen (price as of June 2023).
About “Kappou Wachi
Kappou Wachi is a kappo restaurant on the second floor of a narrow building.
The lunch menu is a single item, the Tekka-don (1,300 yen), but it is so popular that there is a long line every day.
I was told by an announcer from a nearby TV station that this is a famous restaurant, so I think it is well known among foodies in the area.
Some people say that you can eat tuna that is even better than the tuna at Tsukiji at Kappou Wachi, so it is worth queuing up for the tekka-don.
