When people think of Shibuya, they probably imagine a bustling shopping district, but even in Shibuya there is an area called Okushibu that has a relaxed atmosphere that adults can enjoy.
In this article, we will introduce the famous fish restaurant “Uoriki” in Okushibu.

I found a restaurant run by a fishmonger!
I went out to a Western-style restaurant near Yoyogi Koen Station, but it was temporarily closed.
In a panic, I looked for a nearby restaurant and found one that looked interesting.
That’s why I went to a restaurant called “Uoryoku” where you can eat delicious fish set meals.
It looked like a restaurant run by a fish shop, and the exterior was just like a fish shop.
I visited around 11:50, and just barely managed to get in without having to queue up.
There are over 20 different set menus featuring fish!
At this restaurant, there is a menu board at the entrance, and you enter the restaurant with this menu.
I was shown to the second floor, and soon after, the sashimi set meal I had ordered was brought to me. It looked like a cafeteria-style, mass-market restaurant, and I was worried that it might not be very good.
However, when I ate the sashimi, I was surprised at how delicious it was.
In particular, the sea bream, bonito and scallops were delicious, and I was surprised that this sashimi was 1,450 yen (price as of April 2024).
There were no female customers, perhaps because of the atmosphere of the restaurant, but it is a top-class restaurant where you can eat a set meal of fish.
There is a lottery system in place, with a number written on the back of a ticket that you take in at the entrance.
I was lucky and won, so I got a free dish (the restaurant has a playful side).
I only found out after I left the store, but it was a shop that had been introduced on the popular TV program “Ad Machikku Tengoku”.
The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere of the shop was just like something that would be featured on “Ad Machikku Tengoku”.
About “Uoriki”
Uoriki, which started out as a fish shop on Omori Beach in 1905, moved to Shibuya after the war and began operating as a restaurant in its current style in 1985.
As it was originally a fish shop, there is no doubt about the freshness and deliciousness of the fish they use, and all the dishes are popular for being delicious.
You can have as much rice and miso soup as you like, and they will even ask you if you would like more.
After my visit this time, I heard from a friend that the specialty of Uoryoku is mackerel cooked in miso, so I think I’ll try that next time I go.
