I love oyakodon, and I’ve been to many restaurants that serve it, but I’ve come across a few places that serve oyakodon with the delicious aroma of charcoaled wood.
This time, we will introduce a famous oyakodon restaurant with a charcoal aroma, “Gitaro Shamo Chicken Charcoal-grilled Yakitori Takahashi”.
Please check the official website and Google Map below for opening hours, holidays, reviews, etc.
A famous oyakodon restaurant I’ve always wanted to visit
I had heard a rumor that there was a delicious oyakodon restaurant in Gotanda that used a brand of local chicken called “Gitaro Shamo Chicken” from Shinshu, and I had always wanted to go to “Gitaro Shamo Chicken Sumibiyakitori Takahashi”.
I didn’t have a chance to go there, but I was finally able to go there this day.
Oyakodon that is so delicious you’ll want to skip it
I went into the restaurant at exactly 12 o’clock on a weekday, but the inside was relatively empty.
The oyakodon was a little on the salty side, but it was incredibly delicious.
The chicken in particular had the texture of fluffy, runny egg mixed with the aroma of charcoal-grilled yakitori, and the chicken and the egg mixed together in your mouth to create an indescribably delicious flavor.
What was even more amazing was the price, which was an unbelievable 1,200 yen even for a large portion (as of September 2022).
Until now, my favorite oyakodon was at Toritsune in Yushima, but I think this is just as delicious.
I left the restaurant with the feeling that I wanted to skip, having found the best oyakodon restaurant.
