If you want to eat a decent Japanese meal in the Ginza area, where there are many high-class restaurants, it will naturally cost a reasonable amount.
Even in such a place as Ginza, there are a number of places where you can enjoy authentic Japanese lunch at a reasonable price.
In this article, we will introduce the kappo restaurant “Kumasawa” in Ginza 6-chome.
Please check the official website and Google Maps below for opening hours, holidays, reviews, etc.
When I searched for a place to eat delicious Japanese food in Ginza…
When I’m at the office, I usually use the staff canteen, but sometimes I get a sudden craving for something delicious.
On this particular day, there were no other members, so I decided to go as far as the Ginza area.
I searched for “a good Japanese restaurant in Ginza that wasn’t too expensive”, and I found a good-looking restaurant. That restaurant is the one I’m introducing today, Kumasawa.
You can enjoy authentic Japanese food for just 2,000 yen!
This was my first visit, so I headed to the restaurant while looking at Google Maps.
The restaurant is on the first basement floor behind Ginza Six, and I think you would probably miss it if you didn’t have any information about it.
When I went down the stairs to the entrance of the restaurant, there were a few customers waiting in line.
After waiting for about 15 minutes, we were shown to a table and were able to enter the restaurant.
There were five types of menu, including the simmered fish set, the beef and tofu set, and the bakudan donburi, but since it was my first visit, I chose the 2,000 yen simmered fish set, which was the cheapest (as of March 2023).
The simmered fish set that came out was very substantial, and it looked quite luxurious.
When I tried it, it was also incredibly delicious.
It seems that they are particular about the soup stock, and you can tell that it is made by a skilled Japanese chef just by taking a bite.
It seems that the price has recently gone up to 2,000 yen, but I think it is still well worth the price.
About “Kumasawa
The owner, Seikichi Kumazawa, is a veteran with 40 years of experience in the industry, and has worked at numerous Japanese restaurants such as Kitamura and Sekitei, before becoming head chef at Kaiseki Ryori Aoyama.
After that, he held various positions, including the first head chef at the EXIV Hatsushima Club and the executive chef at the EXIV Hamana Lake, before founding Kumasawa in March 2010.
I think it’s amazing that you can enjoy the cuisine of such a specialist of Japanese food at this price, even if it’s lunch.
It’s a well-known restaurant among those in the know, but recently more and more people have heard about it, so even if you visit right after it opens, it’s a bit of a dicey situation as to whether you’ll be able to get in.
Please note that you can’t make reservations for lunch, so you’ll have to go early and wait in line.
