I was finally able to visit a very popular udon restaurant in Shinjuku Station’s West Exit!
I had work in Nishi-Shinjuku 5-chome, and as it was lunchtime, I decided to have lunch nearby.
I have many opportunities to eat in Shinjuku, but there are still many delicious restaurants I have yet to visit.
The restaurant I visited on this day, “Itteki Hassenya”, was one such restaurant, and although I had heard of it before, I was finally able to visit this time.
The restaurant is located a 5-minute walk from the west exit of Shinjuku Station, and the second and third floors of the building are the restaurant.
I arrived at the restaurant at 11:40, and luckily I was able to enter without having to wait in line.

A wide range of customers visit this restaurant!
When I entered the restaurant, I passed by a foreigner, and when I looked around the restaurant, I saw a wide range of customers, from businessmen to students, and inbound foreigners, and the restaurant was full.
As I had heard, it seems to be a very popular restaurant.
After looking at the menu, I decided to order the “Half & Half” (1,480 yen), which allows you to try two different types of udon.
I chose the “Kashiwan-ten udon” with chicken tempura, and the “Niku udon” with pork.

I was surprised at how delicious it was, even more so than I had imagined!
After waiting for about 20 minutes, the food was brought to my table.
I started with the udon with deep-fried chicken, and took a sip of the soup first.
It was a Kansai-style soup with a clear broth and a rich flavor, and it was delicious.
The udon was a little thick, and had a unique texture that was chewy yet firm, and it was wonderfully delicious.

The other meat udon has a miso-based soup with a ginger flavor.
It’s a bit like pork miso soup, and the ginger makes you feel warm inside.
It’s lighter than it looks, and it was also very delicious.

When I got home, I looked at the restaurant’s website, and I could feel their strong commitment to making delicious udon.
I think they probably achieve this level of flavor by making lots of small efforts.
Even as a layman, I could feel the deliciousness of the meat, and there was no so-called meaty smell at all, whether it was chicken or pork.
The udon was so delicious that it made me smile.

The concept is “to create a restaurant that we ourselves would want to visit”.
Itteki Hassenya creates udon with a variety of particularities based on the concept of ‘creating a restaurant that we ourselves would want to visit’.
By offering original ‘creative udon’ based on Sanuki udon, they have gained the support of many customers and have become a famous restaurant, even being selected as one of the 100 best restaurants on Tabelog.
I was impressed by the fact that they serve authentic Sanuki udon without putting up a sign saying “Sanuki udon”.
