I love oyakodon, and I’ve been to many restaurants all over the country, but my favorite is Toritsune Yushima Tenjimae Honten in Yushima.
This time, we will introduce the long-established chicken restaurant “Toritsune Yushima Tenjimae Honten”, where you can enjoy the superb oyakodon.

The restaurant that the administrator likes the most for oyakodon
I think it was around 2005 when I first visited Toritsune Yushima Tenjinsama-mae Honten.
I had a business partner in Yushima, and I found the restaurant when I dropped by Yushima Tenmangu Shrine in my spare time and had a meal there.
Since then, I have visited this restaurant many times.
After all, the oyakodon here is just my style, and it is still my favorite restaurant.
The chicken is delicious, of course, but the fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth eggs are super delicious!
There are two types of lunch menu: the regular Oyako-don and the Oyako-don set (with salad and deep-fried food), but I always order the regular Oyako-don (menu image as of September 2016).
At first glance, this oyakodon may look like it has a light flavor, but it actually has a strong taste.
The chicken, of course, mixes with the high-quality egg and sauce to create a superb egg-on-rice dish that is incredibly delicious.
It may be a little expensive for a salaryman’s lunch, but the high-quality oyakodon with its rich flavor has a bewitching charm that makes you want to visit it again and again.
About “Toritsune Yushima Tenmangu-mae Honten”
Toritsune Yushima Tenjimae Honten, located right next to Yushima Tenmangu Shrine, began selling chicken in 1912 (the first year of the Taisho era).
Since its founding, it has specialized in chicken dishes, and is known as a long-established oyakodon restaurant in Tokyo, along with Tamahide in Ningyocho.
The business changed to the current restaurant format during the second generation, and the fourth generation is currently in the kitchen.
The eggs used are a brand from Hyogo Prefecture, and the key is to leave the yolk and white parts of the egg intact, without fully beating them.
It really feels like they are continuing to protect the classic oyakodon taste, and it is loved by people of all ages, from children to the elderly.
Because oyakodon is so famous, it is often thought of as a restaurant specializing in oyakodon, but at night you can eat a variety of chicken dishes, including tori nabe.
Also, unlike the aforementioned Tamahide, you can order oyakodon as a single dish at this restaurant even at night.
