Yakitori trivia

The oldest yakitori restaurant in Tokyo that is still in business

I like long-established restaurants, so I looked into the oldest yakitori restaurants still in business in Tokyo, and it seems that Isehiro (Kyobashi), which was established in 1921, has the longest history, followed by Ginza Torihans (Ginza), which was established in 1931.
The yakitori restaurant Sakuraya in Shintomicho was established in 1917, but originally it was a chicken wholesaler, and it only started selling yakitori in 1939.
It is said that a yakitori chef needs three years to master the art of skewering and a lifetime to master the art of grilling.
The art of yakitori is a “craftsmanship” that takes a lifetime to master, and a great yakitori restaurant is not something that can be created overnight.
I think it would be a great pleasure to be able to enjoy the traditional flavors of a long-established yakitori restaurant with a Showa-era atmosphere.

Yakitori is becoming increasingly popular among foreigners

Yakitori is a popular food that is familiar to the Japanese, but it is now a Japanese dish that is enjoyed not only by the Japanese, but also by tourists from overseas.
