The “Takano Fruit Parlor” I’m introducing today is the perfect place to treat yourself on your birthday or when you want to reward yourself.
I often go there with my family, and every time I visit, I can enjoy delicious fruit parfaits that never disappoint.
On this particular day, I went there with my wife and daughter to celebrate her recovery.
Japan’s first fruit parlor!
Located just a short walk from Shinjuku Station East Exit, “Takano Fruit Parlor” is a store that traces its roots back to the Meiji-era fruit specialty shop “Shinjuku Takano,” and was established in 1926 (Taisho 15) as Japan’s first fruit parlor.
Committed to providing customers with the best possible experience of seasonal fruits in their optimal condition, the parlor’s parfaits featuring premium fruits such as mask melon and mango have been loved by people of all ages for generations.
Seasonal luxury parfait menu
At Takano Fruit Parlor, you can enjoy different parfaits depending on the season.
I visited in mid-May, and the parfait made with Shizuoka Prefecture-grown mask melon was recommended for that time of year.
It was an exquisite treat with a noble aroma and juice that spread throughout the mouth.

The main store was closed that day, so we went to the store inside Shinjuku Takashimaya near the south exit.
It was a popular store, so even though it was a weekday afternoon, there was a line, and we waited for about 30 minutes.
Finally, we were led inside and looked at the menu.
We weren’t sure what to order, but since we wanted to try different parfaits, we decided to order three different ones.
It’s a truly Instagram-worthy parfait!
Takano Fruit Parlor is a popular café known for its Instagram-worthy desserts.
The parfaits, featuring beautifully cut fruits artfully arranged in glasses, are so stunning that you’ll want to capture them on camera.
Despite the slightly higher price range of 2,000 to 3,000 yen per parfait, the café attracts many young female customers and has gained significant attention through social media, indicating its strong following.
For dessert enthusiasts, this is a must-visit fruit café that excels in every aspect—appearance, taste, and atmosphere.
