This is the restaurant where Mr. Yutaka Matsushige used to work part-time
I often watch the popular gourmet TV show “Kodoku no Gourmet” (Solitary Gourmet) featuring Mr. Yutaka Matsushige, and I learned from a gourmet magazine that he used to work part-time at a Chinese restaurant called “Mintei”.
I was very interested in this, so I went there straight away, but when I first went there it was closed for the day, so I was turned away. I was finally able to go inside on my second visit.
It had an atmosphere of a “Showa-era town Chinese restaurant”.
Because it was expected to be busy, I went to the restaurant just after 1:30pm, but it was still quite busy.
I had checked the menu beforehand, so I ordered the “Rachan” (935 yen), which is half ramen and half fried rice, without hesitation.
Shortly after I sat down, a small dish of pickles, like kimchi, was brought to me.
I wasn’t sure whether this dish was supposed to come with the ramen or the fried rice, but while I was thinking about it, the fried rice was brought to me.
The famous pink fried rice was a little dry, so I tried eating it with the pickles on the side, and they went really well together.
I later found out that they were the shop’s original pickles called “ra-bai-tsai”, which are served with ramen.
I’m sure there are various opinions, but I felt that it was good to put it on fried rice.
It really felt like “Chinese food in a town from the Showa era”, and that’s why it suited me perfectly.
