“Kitchen Makabe” is an old-fashioned Western-style restaurant in the shopping district of the Soshigaya Okura Station, and its omu-rice and cream croquettes are popular.
It is also close to an upmarket residential area, and it is known for having many fans, including Shibugakitai’s Yackun, and has been featured in the media many times.

I’m also a fan of this restaurant and visit regularly.
One day in November, when I was competing in the Setagaya Half Marathon, I visited Kitchen Makabe to give my exhausted body a boost with some pork cutlet.
I usually order omu-koro (omelette with cream croquettes) but on this day I ordered fried oysters.
I had never eaten fried oysters at Kitchen Makabe before, but I was surprised by how delicious they were.
The plumpness of the meat and the juicy flavor were the best, and they were by far the most delicious fried oysters I’ve had recently.
The deliciousness of them was so good that I regretted not having noticed their existence until now.
About “Kitchen Makabe”
Kitchen Makabe, which was established in 1961, is located just a few minutes’ walk from the Soshigaya-Okura station.
Since it opened, the restaurant has been pursuing a gentle flavor that never gets boring, making most of its sauces and seasonings by hand.
It is a family-run business, with the second and third generations in charge of the kitchen.
Pork ginger and omu-rice are popular, but the omu-koros are especially popular, with their thinly rolled eggs in the traditional style, and they are served with chicken cream croquettes.
Everything is delicious, but what really impressed me was the fried oysters mentioned above.
Although they are a little pricey at 2,750 yen, I would definitely recommend them to anyone who likes fried oysters.
This is a popular restaurant that often fills up right after it opens, so it’s probably best to make a reservation before visiting.
