If you have this impression, I would like to recommend you to visit Itamae Gokoro Kikuura in Shinjuku.
It is a wonderful restaurant where you can enjoy very delicious Japanese food at a reasonable price.

Bad weather is the perfect day for food!
I finished work in Hatsudai a little before 12 o’clock that day, but as there was a forecast of heavy snow, I decided to go to Shinjuku for the time being.
In Shinjuku, I went to “Itamae Gokoro Kikuura” in Nishi-Shinjuku to have lunch for the first time in a while.
I think it’s probably been more than 10 years since I last visited there.
It was already a popular restaurant at the time, but it seems to have become even more popular now, and Google Maps says that reservations are required.
We decided to give it a try anyway, thinking that “a day with bad weather like today is the best chance!”.
Blessed with stormy weather? The store was emptier than expected.
When I arrived just after 12:10, there were only four people waiting, which was much less than I had expected.
I think this is because the weather forecast was too bad
Thanks to this, I was able to enjoy a relaxing meal at Itamae Gokoro Kikuura for the first time in a while.
Itamae Gokoro Kikuura is a restaurant that serves up delicious Japanese food, but it is surprisingly affordable.
The set meal of simmered flatfish I had that day cost 1,520 yen (as of February 2024), and all the bones had been removed from the flatfish.
I was really surprised that they put so much effort into a set meal at this price at lunchtime.
I think it’s a wonderful restaurant in terms of taste, service and price.
About “Itamae Gokoro Kikuura”
Itamae Gokoro Kikuura was established near the Shinjuku Koma Theater in the early Heisei period, and in 2002 it moved to its current location, becoming a popular Japanese restaurant in Nishi-Shinjuku.
It offers a generous, biweekly course at a reasonable price, and has been selected as one of the “100 Best Japanese Restaurants in Tokyo (2021)” on Tabelog.
I remember that I first visited around 2006, and I have been going regularly ever since.
